In these bitter sweet reminiscences of a life fully lived, the author reveals many unknown facets of a high-principled and intensely private person.
Suneeta Dweshpande was involved in the revolutionary side of the freedom struggle. After nearly being caught, she spent a year underground, making bombs from recipes in books. An interest to which she could devote more time after India achieved independence was the stage - which in one way or another has remained a constant in her life ever since.
She has throughout been involved in editing and production of her husband's many books. Her own first book Ahe Manohar Tari, the original Marathi work on which this translation is based, has won her a number of prestigious literary awards.
GAURI DESHPANDE, who translated this book, is the author of many books of poems, short stories and novels. Her poems, articles and extensive translations from Marathi have appeared in books and periodicals at home and abroad.
