Description
One of the aims of this series is to destroy the myth that science has superseded religion as the main source of information and guidance in our lives. Instead, it is a useful tool that actually supports the idea that the Qur’an is the world of God, known by Muslims by His name in Arabic, AllahEach programme will consist of two segments, the first going through general arguments for the truth of Islam, and the second having a more documentary style, bringing to light a scientific aspect from the Qur’an. In the second Half of this programme we shall explore what the Qur’an and modern science have to say about the universe, regarding its origin from a single point and its expansion. Before we embark on our scientific journey through the miracles of the Qur’an and other evidence for Islam, we should stop to think about these words briefly to avoid any confusion later. In particular, we need to know what exactly science is, and what constitutes a scientific miracle in an ancient book. A more detailed exploration of the interaction between science and religion features in Programme 11.The Sceptics need not worry: we shall not be running down dark alleys and flinging far-fetched theories around in the name of proving Islam. There are some Muslims too who are uncomfortable about using science to prove the Qur’an. Again, they need no worry, as we will never claim outright that the scientific theories or our own interpretations of the Qur’anic text are infallible. Instead, with Allah’s help, we aim to take an honest look at the scientific phenomena mentioned in the Qur’an and compare them with what science has had to say in the last few centuries.
