About The Translator:
D.A. Shankar is a poet, playwright and translator. Educated at the Universities of Mysore and Sheffield, U.K. he was Emeritus Professor of English at the University of Mysore. His translations of Kanakadasa's devotional songs and of Ramadhanya Charite and Shunya Sampdane, a fourteenth century Kannada classic and Vachanas received a lot of critical acclaim in India and abroad. He has also translated Krishna's Flute (Poems of Pu.Ti.Na) and is a recipient of the Karnataka Rajyotsava award and many other awards from the Karnataka Sahitya and Anuvada Academies.
