Published for the first time, this book presents some of the most beautiful Guler Paintings marked by rhythmic beauty and romantic cult of innocent womanhood.
For a long time people were familiar with Mughal Painting. This was partly due to the fact that Mughal Painting came first to the notice of the British scholars at the close of the nineteenth century. It was a Sinhalese scholar Dr Ananda Kentish Coomaraswamy who recognized the Hindu paintings from the Punjab Hills and Rajasthan as a distinct entity .
Research showed that the paintings at Guler, Basholi and Chamba were the works of a family of artists who belonged to Guler. Style of painting which began at Guler came to be known as Kangra Kalam. Guler Painting, though from early phase of Kangra Kalam, has its own place in art history.
The book carries 3 B&W and 20 Color plates on art-paper.
