From The Book Preface:It is a sad fact that even educated Muslims are generally unaware of the dynamic role played by Islam in the evolution of Science. Muslim scientists made significant contributions towards the development of Science, which ultimately had a great impact on the Renaissance in Europe. It is, therefore, necessary to present the story in a concise readable volume, so that the young generation of Muslims should divest itself of all erroneous impressions, and the young Muslim scientists approach the task of scientific inquiry with new vigor and vision. An effort has been made in the introduction to briefly explain the incentives provided by Islam for the pursuit of science and the scientific method to which the, Muslims were led due to Islamic teachings. The contribution of Muslims to science, and their achievements in this field are mentioned in the following chapters. They are meant only to serve as examples, and should be understood as merely representative of the glorious services rendered by Muslim scientists to the overall development of science.
