Description

VOLUME ONE

This book consists of letters by Sri Aurobindo on various aspects of his spiritual teaching and
method of yogic practice. Among the subjects are: the future evolution of humanity; the Integral Yoga and other spiritual paths; religion science, moral- ity and Yoga; the planes of existence and parts of the being; the Divine and the hostile powers; avatarhool, rebirth, fate-well and Karma.

‘‘The psychic being is formed by the soul in its evolution. It supports the mind, vital, body, grows by their experiences, carries the nature from life to life. It is the psychic or chaitya purusha. At first it is veiled by mind, vital and body, but as it grows, it becomes capable of coming forward and dominat- ing the mind, life and body….When the psychic being can by sadhana became dominant and freely use its instruments, then the Impulse towards the Divine becomes complete and the transformation of mind, vital and body, not merely their liberation, becomes possible.’’

VOLUME TWO

This book consists of letters by Sri Aurobindo on various aspects of his spiritual teaching and method of yogic practice. Among the subjects are: the object of the Integral Yoga; basic requisites of the Yoga; the foundation of sadhana (spiritual practice); sadhana through work, meditation, and love and devotion; human relationships; experiences, realisations, visions and symbols.

‘‘The way of yoga followed here has a different purpose from others,--- for its aim is not only to rise out of the ordinary ignorant world-consciousness into the divine consciousness, but to bring the supra-metal power of that divine consciousness down into the ignorance of mind, life and body, to transform them, to manifest the Divine here and create a divine life in Matter….

‘‘The sadhana of this yoga does not proceed through any set mental teaching or prescribed forms of meditation, Mantras or others, but by aspiration, by a self-concentration inwards or upwards, by self- opening to an Influence, to the Divine Power above us and its workings, to the Divine presence in the heart and by the rejection of all that is foreign to these things. It is only by faith, aspiration and surrender that this self-opening can come.’’

VOLUME THREE

This book consists of letters by Sri Aurobindo on various aspects of his spiritual teaching and method of yogic practice. Among the subjects are:

---The triple transformation in the Integral Yoga:
Psychic, spiritual, supramental
---Transformation of the mind, vital and body
---The Subconscient and the Inconscient
---Opposition of the hostile forces
---Difficulties of the spiritual path

‘‘It is a lesson of life that always in this world every- thing fails a man--- only the Divine does not fail him, if he turns entirely to the Divine. It is not because there is something bad in you that blows fall on you
------blows fall on all human beings because they are full of desire for things that cannot last and they lose them or, even if they get, it brings disappointment and cannot satisfy them. To turn to the Divine is the only truth in life.’’
