Harishankar Parsai was born in 1924 in Madhya Pradesh. He completed his MA in Hindi from Nagpur University and later taught in various schools. He has written hundreds of essays and stories in the satirical mode, and has over two dozen published books to his credit. He received Sahitya Akademi award and an honorary D. Litt from Nagpur University. This is his first book in English translation.
