Based since 1959 in Tiger Haven, his farm five miles away from the Nepal border, Arjan Singh has been one of India's most active conservationists and an authority on the great cat family. He played a pivotal role in the creation of the Dudhwa National Park, a forest sanctuary near the Nepalese border, and helped it gain official recognition. Singh has hand-reared tigers and leopards who have been his companions in the solitude of his home in the jungles..

Arjan Singh is the author of Tiger Haven, Tara a Tigress, Prince of Cats, Tiger! Tiger!, Eelie and the Big Cats and The Legend of the Man-eater. In 1976, he was awarded the World Wildlife Fund Gold Medal in recognition of his filed work.
