• The Future of India - Politics, Economics and Governance
As recently as a decade ago, the prospect of India becoming a developed country seemed a distant possibility. Since then, however, there has been a sea change in our own and the world’s perception about our future. This work takes up the formidable challenge of examining the nuts and bolts of this proposition.

• India's Economic Policy - Preparing for the Twenty-First Century
A lucid and brilliantly-argued book on India's recent economic reforms. One cannot but agree with most of the suggestions made by the author. Nearly fifty years after independence, India remains a very poor country. It ranks near the bottom in terms of per capita income, and is similarly placed in the Human Development Index which measures social well-being. Economic growth in India has been less than half that of China or even other countries in Asia. And governments, at the Center as well as in the states, are close to insolvency. (" Jalan marshals a formidable array of facts to convey the general failure of the avowed mission of planning in India and the public sector's abysmal failure particular". - - TheTelegraph)

• Bharat ka Bhavishay (HINDI)
Now available in Hindi translation, this thought-provoking, clear-sighted the book argues that the key factors to success are three: politics, economics and governance. It is the interface between these, and their combined effect on the functioning of our democracy, which will largely determine India¹s future.

• India's Economy in the New Millennium
This volume of collected essays covers a variety of subjects - ranging from banking and finance to science and development. The common thread that binds the diversity of the topics is India's past record and present policies in the macro, micro and meso economic spheres. Without being apologetic about India's past records, these essays probe into the analytics of some select areas in policy-making in the Indian economy.

• India's Politics: A View From the Backbench Politics
This book presents an insider’s account of how politics is practised in India, and to what effect. It is one of the most important studies of India’s political system to have been written, and is especially relevant today, as the country celebrates its sixtieth year of Independence.

It is an essential SWOT analysis on the emerging India and a lucid analysis of India's economy, polity and governance.
