• Vikramorvasiyam (Urvashi and Pururavas)
Vikramorvasiya is a famous play composed by Kalidasa in five Acts which describes the love of Pururavas, the king of Pratishthana, and Urvasi, a heavenly nymph (apsaras). In this play, Kalidasa seems to have concentrated more on characterisatioin than on plot-construction as he has done in the Malavikagnimitra. But the most debated portion of the play is Act IV where the hero, distracted by separation, gives vent to his feelings in short, sweet and pathetic lyrics. It is not a long narrative or descriptive poem which can be read with chosen intervals or breaks.

• Malavikagnimitram (Malavika and Agnimitra)
Malavikagnimitram is the first play of Kalidasa composed in five Acts. It is the story of King Agnimitra’s love for Malavika, an unknown beautiful girl living in the royal harem. She was proficient in music and dance. This play is a court comedy of royal love, in which harem jealousies and court intrigues mingle to raise romantic situations of love. It is truly the author’s ingenuity, skill and ability for scheming that enable Agnimitra to meet Malavika and finally win her as his wife and queen.

• Abhijnana Sakuntalam (Shakuntala)
Abhijnana-Sakuntalam is one of the best not only in Sanskrit literature, but in the literature of the world. Love in union and love in separation are both depicted in this drama with a greater degree of perfection. The dramatic power and poetic beauty of this unique work have elicited the highest praise and admiration from the scholars all over the world.

• Meghdoot (TEXT + HINDI)
This book, besides carrying Sanskrit text, is a Hindi translation of famous ancient epic by a foremost poet of classical India. Kalidasa is one of the most illustrious names in ancient Indian Literature. His love poetry has entranced and inspired readers across the world, through the ages.
