Swarutsav was back in the Capital once again. The expanses surrounding India Gate resonated with the rhythmic vibrations, ragas and chants springing forth from an inspired and celebrated star cast. Swarutsav 2003 was a spectacular showcase of 10 concerts spanning 3 whole days and 4 delightful sessions of pure music presented in various styles and genres by the ultimate maestros of Indian music. The Best Of Swarutsav 2003 compilation brings to you select moments of the live concerts bringing alive all the ambience of the festival.

INDIAN CLASSICAL

This volume of the series features the best of Swarutsav 2003 classical renditions by leading classical music exponents. The album opens with Kishori Amonkar presenting raga Yaman. Classical maestro Ajoy Chakrabarty's classy rendition of raga Jaijaiwanti follows. N Ravikiran and Ronu Majumdar then present a mesmerising Jugalbandi-a rare combination of Chitraveena and flute followed by Parween Sultana's superb rendition of raga Amba Manohari. The album ends with an amazingly delightful performance by disciple and daughter of Ajoy Chakrabarty, Kaushiki Chakrabarty.

DEVOTIONAL AND SUFI

This volume of the series features the best devotional and sufi renditions performed by leading maestros at Swarutsav 2003. The album opens with a Bhajan of Meerabai Mai To Leenho Govind Mol in the golden voice of Parween Sultana followed by Pandit Jasraj's most popular devotional creation Mero Allah. Kishori Amonkar then presents her most popular devotional concert piece Mai Kaise Aaungi. The album concludes with Rekha Bhardwaj as se sings the poetry of the peerless Gulzar followed y Mere Sahiba, a mellifluous sufiana rendition of Shah Hussain's poetry by Hans Raj Hans.

THEMATIC AND FUSION

This volume features thematic and fusion works merging traditional and contemporary Indian music performed at Swarutsav-2003. The album opens with a power packed performance by new age percussion maestro Buckram Ghosh and his group of musicians presenting Dance of Shiva, followed by Love Beckons, a beautiful thematic piece by Rahul Sharma along with Louis Banks, Taufiq Qureshi and Shafaat Ahmed Khan. The album moves on to an exciting Mel harmonic concerto piece Deepakam by Chitraveena artiste N Ravikiran. It concludes with Ganesh & Kumaresh presenting a unique thematic offering Chanchal with patriotic and deeply sensitive ideas and musical contours.
