To write a biography of Prakasam is to write a three decade political hsitory of Andhra Desh in particular and Madras Presidency in general, from the 20's to 50's of this century. With great fascination the author as a student of political economy followed Prakasam's Firka Development Scheme and the Producers-cum-Consumers Cooperatives (1946-48) and later his speeches on Panchayati Raj and other important subjects in the Constituent Assembly (1948-49).

The main purpose of this series is to record the chronicle of struggles and achievements of eminent men and women of India, who have speartheaded our freedom movement and national renaissance. Designed in the form of biographies, these handy volumes, written by knowledgeable persons, outline a brief account of the life and contribution of the eminent leaders of this country. These volumes are meant to be constant source of inspiration for the present generation as well as for posterity. These are not intended either to be comprehensive study or to replace the more elaborate biographies.
