Reversing Imbalances with Ayurveda

Reversing Imbalances with Ayurveda

The problem with modern medicine is that current diagnostic tools can only pick up pathologies. They CANNOT detect imbalances in the early stages. This means they are waiting for an imbalance to bloom into a disease before acting.

Five thousand years ago, doctors detected subtle imbalances and warded off disease using pulse diagnosis. Today we can also use muscle testing, also known as Applied Kinesiology (AK), for early diagnosis. These valuable tools can help doctors detect not only early imbalances, but the root of the problem.

As long as you treat superficial manifestations of the disease process, you will be following symptoms around the body, never getting to the underlying problem. Thus, it will be very difficult, if not impossible, to fix the condition.

History shows that doctors used indigenous plants and herbs (even food and spices) to treat imbalances. In the so-called "scientific era" medicine gave up natural modalities and adopted pharmacology (drugs), with all their side effects.

Early methods of diagnosis were pushed aside for fancy-sounding diagnostic tools, such as CAT scans, colonoscopies, MRIs, EKGs, and EEGs. While it is a great boon to have these new methods of detection and drugs available to use in a crisis, we can avoid the need for such tests and therapy if we reverse imbalances early.

Remember an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Food is out best pharmacy. A sound diet, along with herbs, spices, teas and a good daily routine, can prevent or treat most imbalances. As can twice-yearly cleansing of impurities.

We do not go from health to pathology overnight. It takes time. The ancient doctors of Ayurveda identified six stages in which the body breaks down:

1. Accumulation

2. Aggravation

3. Overflow

4. Moving and localization at a distant site

5. Manifestation

6. Distinction/Chronic Complications

In lay terms, this means there are no symptoms in the first two stages of a disease process. Nonetheless, imbalances are forming. In the third and fourth stages, symptoms develop. In the fifth and sixth stages, Western medicine diagnoses a disease and gives it a name: diabetes, multiple sclerosis, cancer, Alzheimer's and so on.

The goal of medicine should be to detect imbalances in the early stages and reverse them so that the body can regain its health. The earlier we detect these imbalances, the easier they are to reverse, using dietary changes and nutritional supplements.
